Valle d'Aosta transport between courmayeur and aosta
Posted: Thu June 3, 2004 08:20 PM UTC
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows about local transport between la palud-courmayeur-aosta - I have some questions!

- is there bus/ train ?
- How frequent are the services?
- Is this transport available everyday of the week?
- how much does this cost for a single journey?

many thanks!

Hi there,

I have an house in that area but unfortunately, since I use to go there by car, I'm not really aware about public transportation...
By the way, for sure there are lot of buses connecting Aosta and Courmayeur, then from Courmayeuer to La Palud there are local buses going to Val Ferret (pretty frequent all days cause many tourists go to take the cableway).
I strongly reccommend to go up from La Palud to Rifugio Torino, you will have a great view on Monte Bianco.
You can even continue with the cableway arriving to Chamonix passing on the Valle Blanche (absolutely gorgeous) and coming back by bus (just be aware that that tour is not cheap at all!!)

Have a great trip,
Marco

There is a daily bus service between Aosta and Courmayeur run by SAVDA - timetables and details are on www.SAVDA.it. Train details you can get from www.trenilatia.it but if I recall correctly the train only goes as far as Pre St Didier. Bus tickets are fairly cheap - sorry I don't have details re ticket costs. There is a very helpful staffed rail station and bus station opposite in Aosta if you draw a blank on info there is the tourist office in the Piazza Chanoud in Aosta the people there are very helpful and speak excellent English too.
