| Lago di Como | Lago di Como in early November Posted: Wed June 2, 2004 05:05 PM UTC
Would someone please tell me what I can do at Lago di Como in November? Aren't most attractions closed by October? I'd really like to experience the lake district but I'm limited to a November visit. I'm leaning towards Como over M. and G. Should I bother to make a day trip out from Milano (by train)?? Or should I skip the lakes because of bad Autumn weather and lack of open attractions (like gardens and villas)? Your opinions are highly valued. Thanks!

The main attraction (the lake itself) never closes. And I personally find November the best month to visit Italy. Even though the weather may be bad it's the only month when most places are really tourist-free.
Cheers, mac

The lake is beautiful!!! I'v been twice, both times in September. Be sure to take a boat ride to Bellagio.

I was in Como last October, and yes the weather is a bit damp and chilly. But there is still plenty of hustle and bustle in Bellaggio. Take a ferry ride, and check out hikes out of the smaller villages on the lake (like the one to Castello Vezio out of Varenna). Just bring warm clothes!
