| Liberia | transportation from Monteverde to Rincon De La Viejo Posted: Mon May 24, 2004 08:06 PM UTC
My friend and I are going to Costa Rica soon. I would like to know if there is a cheaper transportation, other than $38pp from interbusonline.com, from Monteverde or Santa Elena to Rincon de la Viejo. Also are there any simple accomodations in the area for backpackers like us. Thank you.

Unless you take the public bus the $38 is about it. That is pretty much the standard price for all the private shuttles.
The backpacker haven in Santa Elena is Pension Santa Elena. It is right around the corner from the center of town and is also the home of monteverdeinfo.com. Lucky you! The people who man the information desk can help you figure out the public bus schedule if you want to give that a try. You can also check out their web site. Check out my VT pages. I do have a little more info about the Pension Santa Elena.

Agree. While the trip on public bus is cheap you will have to go down from Monteverde to the interamerican highway and then wait for a bus to Liberia. From Liberia you must take a cab to Rincon. The whole inconvenience and the whole day you will loose is not even worth it! Check Buenavista Lodge or Guachipelin Lodge both have great facilities. btw please share the pictures of your trip @ www.photocr.com
