Kuching Holiday Inn Damai Beach
Posted: Mon May 24, 2004 04:44 AM UTC
We are looking to head to Kuching for the first time in Dec 04 / Jan 05. It is a family group and we are intending in staying 4 nights at Holiday Inn Kuching and then 9 nights Holiday Inn Damai Beach. Is there plenty to do whilst staying here and what are these accommodations like? I am particularly interested in hearing anything on Holiday Inn Damai Beach - are there lots of activities offered by the resort, etc. We have been asked by a travel agent back here why we would want to stay there for that long because there is not much to do. Is this correct?? Does anyone know the web site for Holiday Inn Damai Beach. Also what is the beach like - can you swim in it, snorkle, etc.

Any information is appreciated,

Thank you.

Hi!

I think 9 days in Damai Beach would be too long, unless you just want to laze around the beach.

For the Damai area, the Sarawak Cultural Village is a must. Other activities around the area are jet skiing, water-skiing, windsurfing, mountain biking & camping. Off course the hotel has its own facilities like tennis, squash and fitness centers. You can also visit the fishing village nearby or enjoy a good seafood meal at seafood restaurats there.

Here's the link to the hotel:

Enjoy Kuching & Damai!

We where in Kutching in June. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Damai Lagoon which is right next door to the Holiday Inn Damai beach It as the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We went next door to the Holiday Inn Damai Beach which is owned by the same company and WOW what a difference. The hotel was beautiful, we actually went over there for a few of our meals as well. As for staying there for 9 days, I agree it is far to long. The hotel has a shuttle bus into the city but you have to pay for it as usual(around $20 australian return trip) and it is also 50 mins out of the city. Makes it a very long and hot drive. We went swimming in the ocean while there and it was fine. There really isn't much to do there I would recommend staying closer to the city. Also there are no shops or banks nearby so you are at the mercy of the hotel. Hope this helps.

hi, i'm a kuchingites. hence, really approved with the other 2 members. nine days!!!!so many other things that you could experience elsewhere rather than on the beach.moreover, its quite a distance from the city. i recommend that you re design your stay to 4 days in damai and 9 days in the city. activities wise...ditto.

if you need assistance, you know how to look for me. hope to see you and would love to escort you around.
