What is the best (cheapest' quickest) way to go from
Opatija to Venice and backwards ? I'd like to do it all in one day time. |

The best option is to take a direct bus from Opatija to Trieste.
You'll find schedules here (Opatija is Abbazia in Italian): http://www.ts.camcom.it/autolinee/saita.htm#fiume http://www.saf.ud.it/orari_internazionali_croazia.htm# From Trieste take either bus or train to Venice.

In my experience, you can do so only if traveling by car, by other means it is not possible in one day. There are approx. 90 km from Opatija to Trieste and 160 km from Trieste to Venice.
However, it might be the solution; there is a seed boat which makes day trips from Pula to Venice. There are approx. 100 km from Opatija to Pula and you need 2 hours to get it by bus. The best is to check it in Tourist Office when in Opatija.
