I will be in San diego in one week. I am planning to travel with my son (2-year-old). I do not want to rent a car. Where should I stay and should I bring the car-seat ?
thanks

San Diego, like most of southern California, does not have the best public trans. I recommend renting a car.
Unless you are under 25 years old, you should be able to do it with taxes, fees, insurance, etc included for about $30-35/day.
You can easily end up losing 3-4 hours/day waiting on public transportation here if you want to see SD. When you consider what your time is worth, renting a car is relatively cheap.
Also, it greatly increases the lodging available to you.

I agree with the first post. Not having a car in San Diego will severely limit your ability to enjoy anything. If you must insist on not getting a car, then probably stay near a beach so you can walk to it and enjoy that at least. I rented a car through budget in L.A. for about $130 for a week. Traffic isn't nearly as bad in San Diego as it is in LA
