Since we have no idea what your interests are, I will assume.
I sometimes wonder, he said unkindly, who's been holding your hand all your life? Have you read the VT pages yet? Have you been to your local library? Have you checked with any travel agent? Have you tried "google" and got onto the ever-so-helpful Tasmanian Tourist Information people? Having got that off my chest, there are a couple of things that may excape everyone else that I would heartily recommend. The Bark Museum at Swansea and the Seahorse Farm on the Tamar (both in my pages). The usual suspects such as Cradle Mountain, Port Arthur, Richmond and Hobart will be mentioned but I would add, as must-sees, the Tahune State Forest and the Pieman River Cruise. Have a good trip, you picked a good time to go. Cheers, Ian

Tasmania has so many beautiful places to see. My favourite area is the east coast - The Bay of Fires, Binalong Bay, Bicheno, Coles Bay, Orford etc. If you are planning to hire a car and love coastal scenery, a drive down the east coast of Tasmania is highly recommended.
The Huon Valley is also a nice place to take a drive too (south of Hobart). In Hobart itself, try to make it to Salamanca Market on Saturday morning. It is a wonderful market that sells a lot of local-made products. Of course there is the Cadbury's Chocolate Factory and the Cascade Brewery that you can take tours of if you are interested in that sort of thing. Tasmania is a beautiful place. It is my home state and although I have traveled to many places I still think it is my favourite place in the world. Have a great trip! Ps. Make sure you pack plenty of warm clothes because it can still be quite chilly in August/September.

Hi, There are so many great places to visit. Cradle Mountain is fabulous at this time of year if you enjoy a little snow and log fires. One place I suggest is Cradle Chalet Botique lodge. http://www.sensationaltasmania.com Launceston is Great, Cruises up the Tamar, Wine tours, many historical towns nearby, seahorse world, plus many really good restaurants. Hobart has loads of attractions including Salamanca, great drive up Mt. Wellington and a short drive to the Huon. I stayed at an excellent little place on the East Coast called Fleur's by the sea bed & breakfast. If anyone is staying in Launceston, check out the Edwardian (http://www.sensationaltasmania.com/theedwardian) as the accommodation is a treasure trove and I got a free Tasmanian Wine for staying three nights. Launceston is really a fantastic friendly place to visit.
