| Ko Kradan | surfing at koh kradan? Posted: Tue May 11, 2004 04:49 PM UTC
Hello all. Anyone seen any surfable waves at Koh Kradan? I've seen some mention of waves in some advertising for the island, but havn't actually heard of anything, from actual travelers. Any info, appreciated!

Koh Kradan is a fantastic place.....However I've never seen any surfable waves there....Best bet..Go to the north west of Sumatra (if the regional troubles have ceased) Apparently, the world surfing championships have a stint on an island near there this time of year....
good luck. Tone.

hi there, thanks for your response. Have you been to koh kradan during the monsoon season? From the gossip I've heard, that's the time to look for waves on the one side of the island.

Only storm swells during monsoon, nothing above a foot the rest of the time and no one will take you out then; even then, it's not surfable, as you're really only talking about glorified wind chop with only generally predictable directionality. By the way, even in high season, the food isn't much. Even if some resort were open (& none will be during monsoon, probably), I can't imagine what you'd survive on.
