Inch'on RE: Shopping in Inch'on or Singapore?

Hi All,

My trip to Italy inludes a stop over in Inch'on on the way back (to Sydney) and I'm thinking about spending a few days here. I'm sorry if I come across ignorant but I know very little about the city / country. And it appears no one I have asked has been to South Korea.

My main priority is shopping (business suites, shoes, bags, clothes! =))) I'm from Australia and everyone seems to shop at Singapore and Hong Kong. I've never been there myself and I'm not sure what Korea is like in comparision to these countries. Is it more expensive? Do they speak english? Where should I shop? etc-

My other option is to by pass Inch'on and go to Singapore and shop there instead. But I will have to pay an extra AUD$450 to go to Singapore. I'm not sure if its worth the extra money.

Any recommends / thoughts would really help.

Thanks =)

Hi,

As a Singaporean, I would like to offer some thoughts.

If you spend the extra AUD$450 to come to Singapore, will you be staying for a couple of days to tour around Singapore?

If this is yr first time to Singapore, then I advise you to stay abt 2 to 3 days here. Join a local tour to Sentosa, Orchard Road, various places of interests or simply go to these places yrself. It is very safe in Singapore and majority of the people here speak English. The prices of goods here are reasonable compared to other countries. I'll sure you'll be able to get something for yourself.

On the other hand, if you just come to Singapore for shopping, then I would say it's not worth it to spend the additional AUD$450 coz you will not save much. Say you saved $200 on the goods... hey! u'll be losing the $250 on flight and time is wasted too.

Well, I don't know what other questions you have but I'll be glad to tell you what I know. My email is limsoup@hotmail.com

Cheers!
Richard

Incheon is actually a separate city to Seoul, but you will want to spend your time in Seoul. In Seoul you may not be able to find impressive bargains for western goods, but there are plenty of markets such as Namdaemun where you can pick up some interesting stuff on the cheap. It's not like Hong Kong though. I do recommend you do a bit of sightseeing while you're there, though.
