What is the relationship like between Windsor and Detroit residents? Is there a kind of rivalry or are they friendly?

I believe the relationship between Windsor and Detroit residents is friendly. What separates the two cities is the river. Many celebrations of fireworks are displayed on the river so that both cities can enjoy the display.

Normal I think. There is easy transport between both places by tunnel or bridge. Many Windsor residents work in Detroit and live in Canada as my X wife did for several years.

It's unspoken of really.
The only rivarlries you may find are with the youth downtown Windsor at the clubs. Since the drinking age in the US is 21 and Canada is 19, we get all of the 19 and 20 year old Americans coming here. It's alright for the most part but sometimes there can be a little bit of trouble.
If you're just visiting the area you probably won't even hear anything about the other cities (besides on television.)

I agree with the above comments, the only other rivalry is a friendly one between those that support detroit sports teams vs. toronto sports teams. Many Windsorites cross the border daily for work or shopping or entertainment and vice versa. I'd say we coexist quite peacefully!

I feel there is an understanding between Detroit and Windsor. My family has lived in Windsor for over 15 years and have never experienced a problem. We are only seperated by a small river. BUT, WE DO GET JEALOUS OF THE LOWER TAXES, AND CHEAPER GAS IN DETROIT. (PS) our beer is better.
