The Grampians Cycling in the Grampians

I am bringing my bike over to Melbourne this month and plan to do some cycling around Victoria. I would like to know what the road between Dunkeld and Halls Gap is like - is it steep? Winding? Which way should I cycle - north or south?

The road is flat and winding.I dont think it really matters which direction you ride.

It's scenic and the only thing to decide which direction (if I was doing it) would be the wind. Gotta love those tailwinds!
The other reply was bang on.
Have a nice pedal,
Ian (currently recovering with a broken cllarbone from falling off my cycle!)

I was wondering which month you were coming over, then I could give you a guesstimate of the direction of the wind - high summer, mainly north winds and late winter mainly south-westerlies - problem was I couldn't work it out from the vt date .... according to the date your question was posted - 08 MAY??? and the two first replies - 18 MAY!!!??? You have travelled back to the future on a pushbike .... well done :-)

I seem to recall it being a flattish, boring run of about sixty kms.

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha .... eeeeuuuuuccchhhh!!!!
Seems like I have gone back to the future in my brain - doh!

Please disregard last post - also hope and pray that you don't get to be old and silly ... like me.

How I got to this particular, lost in time, query remains a mystery.

Let's just put this in the *senior moments* bag and forget I was ever here.

Hope this helps,

John :-0
