Hi
I want to know where I can find accommodation in Luderitz (nice places to stay but not to expensive). I have hurd that you need a permit to go to Kolmaskop. Can you get it at Luderitz or must I apply for it before I go on my trip in June. What is the cost? Really want to go to Kolmanskop. If you have any information on wat else to do or see in Luderitz and serounding let me know. |

I was last in Luderitz in 1998, so my information may be a little outdated, but at that time, no permit was necessary to visit Komanskop. You DO need permission to visit any of the diamond areas, but Kolmanskop is not technically within the mining zone (it is surrounded on three sides by the restricted zone, with the main highway to the north).
We stayed at the Hotel Zum Sperrgebeit, which at the time was almost new, and was very nice. It sits on a hill in the middle of town with a nice view of the harbor, and has an indoor swimming pool. There are probably 2-3 other hotels in Luderitz, but I would definitely stay at this one again.
