Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Galápagos Scuba diving in the Galapagos + Onwards to Maccu Picchu
Posted: Thu May 6, 2004 12:20 PM UTC
Hi

We are planning to go to the Galapagos in September, and are cheking out several offers for dive trips. The range from app. 1200 USD (incl plane from Quito and Scuba gear) to three times this price.

If anyone has comments on different companies (to aviod or reccomandations) please post them :o)

We don't have much time there, and have to make all arrangements in advance.

------

We are planning om going to Maccu Picchu as well, and wonder if anyone knows how to get there / back from Quito in a time- and money saving way... :o)

Thanks
A&H

I came across this internet special just the other day which includes Galapagos and Machu Piccu as a package. Here is the web site http://www.traveland.com/st.php?id=6
Hopefully it will help.

G'day,
When I was in Galapagos, we had 2 choices for diving.
1. You can dive from the boat you choose to sail around the islands:
2. You can dive using one of the 2 dive operations based on the island.
Option 2 is cheaper per dive and the sites are just as good as anything we saw while diving from the tour boat.
Take a look at my site for more info, but you will definitely not regret the decision to dive there, whichever way you finally decide. I've dived around the world and Galapagos is easily number 1 for me.
Flights to the archipeligo are only with the Equadorian airline and you will have to pay the National Park fee (it was USD100.00) for however long you are out there.
Safe and happy travels,
Pete
