We'll be arriving lake Como area Sunday evening the 31st of May. I want to travel from Milan to Bellagio but it will be late evening when we arrive in Varenna by train.
Stay in Varenna? B&B? Day trip to Bellagio?? Is there a ferry that goes back down to Como? If so how much $? I want to propose here...any ideas!!!!!!!!!!!? Thanks a ton from a Confused but Excited Texan!!! |

Hi,
We've just spent two glorious days in Bellagio, it was fantastic. It's hard to imagine a more beautiful place to visit. Varenna is very pretty too, but very small. Bellagio is also very small, but it is a lot bigger than Varenna. We stayed at the Hotel Florence (Hotel Firenze), it cost 170 Euro per night for a room with magnificent lake views. The resturant there was also excellent. We bought all day ferry passes, they cost 7.50 Euro each, and this way you can catch ferry's all day, hop off where you want, walk for a little while, catch the next ferry to the next town etc. This ticket will also take you to Como, but you can buy a one-way ticket for about 2.50 Euro. ie. next to nothing. Hope this helps Regards John

<hi there,
was in lake como last week, and stayed at menaggio. como is far if yoiu go by ferry from bellagio, menaggio or varenna. it takes 2 and a half hours by the slow ferry, and less time by the direct fast one , which is way more expensive. better to take the bus. but figure out the timings or else yoiu will waste a lot of time waiting around for the bus. have fun priya

Travel times between all locations are not too great. Milan to Como is a direct train route and you can grab a Hyrofoil from Como to Bellagio.
Here is a great site with Bellagio info and a ferry schedules: http://www.bellagio.co.nz/ Bellagio is fantastic. Get an out door table lake side at any of the local restaurants and it will make a perfect spot to pop the question!
