I will visit Qatar in August as oil engineer. I never been in this country. So, Can you suggest to me anything, which will be useful for me (I'm 21).

bring something which you can do in your free time because its a very boring country. You must make new friends otherwise loneliness will catch u.

As I heard Qatar is country with tight restrictions.

I think there are quite a few discoes there. Most of them are in five star or four star hotels. When you'll be there ask the people which discoes are the best for -meeting other people- and you'll know where to go !

I dunno how much discrete you and your girl friend can keep your relation ! It depends on you guys.

Just do not tell anyone even in excitement once u have gotta gf !

qatar is building its image as a tourist friendly country. they have one of the biggest shopping malls and want to have asian games held there.

u can do lot of photography, write n contribute in VT. also using qatar as a base, u can visit bahrain n the uae often.

i have not hurd of any bridge between qatar n bahrain, but there is one between saudi arabia and bahrain (the causeway). i will strongly recommnd visiting both bahrain n the uae. also, oman can be good.

There are no trains at all ! but there is a fairly good bus network. But u must have all your visas ready before making any -trip- :-) for more info you can check the VT guide for Middle Eastern Countries.

Okay, now for the real answers. I lived here 15 years.
But first what company will you be working for. I'm in RasGas.
Next, I'd be happy to introduce you to some young military guys when you get here, they are either newly married or have a girlfriend. Most guys your age have a phillipino etc girlfriend here.
Lots of water sports, Diving is cheap and you won't be bored with that. Lots of house parties also.
yes we have discos and we have lots of Americans/British.
Don't worry so much this country is completely safe, Arabs are nice, people are generally friendly.
