Which one?

I want to add a travel page Bremen. But VT gives me a choice:

Europe > Germany > Freie Hansestadt Bremen > Bremen

or

Europe > Germany > Freie Hansestadt Bremen

I think both are the same.
So which one should I choose? Most of you took the first one.

For the city obviously you should choose:
Europe > Germany > Freie Hansestadt Bremen > Bremen

Remember that Bremen is also a state (Leander) in Germany.

BTW: A State in Germany is called LAND. The plural is Laender...

Danke.

Hello again:
Seems this question comes up all the time, with Hansastaedte and in situations where the name of the city and the county it governs are the same. For VT purposes, I think they view the 'Hansastadt' designation as being more of a 'county'. Thus you should just select the BREMEN category if you want to create a page on the city alone. (This is probably also the category that will receive most 'viewing' over time, since most non-europeans looking for Bremen nfo will not likely KNOW to look under the Hansastadt Bremen listing.)
Have fun creating your page!
K.

Jetzt ist es ganz klar.
Germany > Freie Hansestadt Bremen > Bremerhaven
is also in the VT database as being part of the Freie Hansestadt Bremen.

The state of Bremen consists of the city of Bremen and the city of Bremerhaven. The additional word "Hansestadt" derives from the Hanseatic Leage, a mediaeval federation of towns. Hamburg, Rostock, Bremen, Gdansk and varous others have this prefix.
So if you have been to Bremen, with the Roland and the beautiful Weserrenaissance houses, build a page here: Germany > Freie Hansestadt Bremen > Bremen .
If you have also been the Bremerhaven, with the submarine and the harbour district, built a page here: Germany > Freie Hansestadt Bremen .

Yes, we have Hanseatic cities in The Netherlands too: Zwolle, Deventer, Doesburg, Kampen, Zutphen, Hasselt, Hattem.
Thanks Christian.
