For some reason all the ferries from the Greek Islands to Turkey seem quite expensive. I've researched making the trip from Lesvos, Chios, Kos, and Rhodes and although there are some variances in price it's still more than I expected in all cases. Another thing to keep in mind is that there's a port fee when you arrive in Turkey (something like 10 Euros, I think). I don't know where you've been looking at ferry prices but that extra fee may or may not be included.

I found an internet site with prices from Greek islands to Turkey. The price from Lesvos to Turkey is the highest. Something 55 EUR one way plus 10 EUR port tax. It is a lot of money for 80 minut voyage only. For instance, the ferry voyage from Chios to Turkey is 32 EUR, but I don't have time to go to Chios first (besides the sum is even higher) so I will have to pay. But I still don't get it. Last year I went to Limnos (from Lesvos) and for a 5 hours voyage I paid scanty 12 EUR. C'est la vie.

if you go on summer you must expect to pay this amount of money. Best season is autumn where the ticket to Ayvalik costs around 15 euros one way with no exta fees.
