| Ise | Is it easy to get a hotel in Ise? Posted: Wed April 21, 2004 07:28 AM UTC
My husband and I are going to Kyoto this May and will be going to Ise on the fifth day of our stay. Is it easy to get a hotel in Ise when we get there? Is Ise an epicurean's place? Also in Kashikojima and Toba? We love seafood and shellfish... are these the place to go for it?

A nice choice for a destination.... My only visit to the Ise-Shima region was when I was a little kid (long time ago!), so I can't be authoritative, but I remember the beautiful, intricate coastline of the area very well. The region is famous for aquaculture, especially of pearl oysters, so I should think seafood is great.
It's also a pretty major tourist destination for the Japanese, and there should be plenty of lodging options. May shouldn't be a busy month outside of the Golden Week (the first week of the month). I suggest you book a ryokan featuring goumet seafood through a travel agent when you get to Kyoto.

Thanks. Your advice of ordering a gourmet seafood dinner at a Ryokan place sounds good.
