Hi!

You need about 3 to 4 hours by bus from La Paz to Oruro. During Carnaval you have to expect unto double price for the bus as normal. I recommend you to book your hostal/hotel early enough because it will be all fully booked those days. I would recommend you the hotel Sucre very near to the main place or the hotel at the terminal of busses.
You plan to go next year , I guess? Wish you a great time!

PS: Expect wet clothes in the afternoon ;-), take something to change with you if you donīt want to go back to the hotel during the party ;-))

regards
Holger

yeah, what chancay says is correct. normally it takes 3 hours by bus.
as you know oruro at carneval season it`s packed. a lot of people from la paz go there. so it`ll take more that 3 hours.
about the dates, it changes frecuently. this year was on feb 21st. so, as you can see is the same date as Rio`s carneval.
well, i hope to be very helpful and if you need more info, just ask us.
buh- bye. marcelo.
