Europeans: passport required from May 15 - 23!!!
Posted: Tue April 13, 2004 06:07 PM UTC
I just got the information from the official Spanish tourist board, that because of the wedding of Prince Felipe of Spain on May 22, you will be allowed to enter the country only with a valid PASSPORT during the period of May 15 - 23. This applies to everybody, even visitors from the EU. Just the regular ID card will not be enough!

I thought I'd share that with you!

I've heard something about that and I think that it's true for what I've heard., but not everything.

But I think that in a regular plane from EU countries if you're EU citizen you only have to demostrate your nationality with the ID card. All foreigners citizens of the EU will have to show the passport.

I think that also in Portugal has done the same for all the year.

If I know something else from Spain I'll tell you.

This should make no difference to visitors from the UK, as we do not have national ID cards - so passport is the only option.

Anyway the wedding is a target as it was Easter (Thanks god nothing happend)

thanks Christine for sharing it, I am going to look as well for this news.

That is exactly what I meant:

usually all you need as a citizen of a EU country, is a national ID, but for this one week in May, it is different!

It would be a shame, if people could not get to Spain, only because they did not know about this exception!

Gooday everyone,

We are arriving in Barcelona from Australia on the 14th May. This is the first we have heard of this wedding. Is there a website where we can find out about the wedding and will it impact on all of Spain or only Madrid?

True for just that week Spain will be off of the Schengen tratade.

I now that security in Madrid is enourmous due to this event.

Sorry do not know any web page about it. I only read all about it on newspapers (or tv or radio, I am afraid it is the main subject in all the media lol)
