| Fairbanks | Recent earthquake near Fairbanks Posted: Thu November 28, 2002 05:09 PM UTC
Hi!
Can anyone tell me how much damage was wreaked on Fairbanks during the earthquake on November 5th? My brother and his family live there, and we haven't been able to get in touch with them! We are worried sick! I'd appreciate anyone with any info to contact me here, and hopefully ease our fears a bit! Thanks a lot, and Happy Thanksgiving!! Migisi |

I am one hour north of Anchorage...there was only one small town toward Tok that had significant damage but noone was hurt. Despite the magnitude and close to surface, the lack of human density afforded just earth movement mostly.

There was very little damage in Fairbanks. Hairline cracks in walls and breaking water pipes. However, closer to the fault in the Denali Range, damage was much greater.
