What is the weather like in the first of May? Is it a good time to visit if I want to do a lot of walking both in the city and around the city- ie, the mountains and the coast? Finally, how much time do you think I should spend in Dalian? (I have from May 1st to the 8th.)
Thanks I am presently living in Beijing with my wife and two teenaged kids. Three of us are teaching. We have been here since August and we think going to dalian would be great. Our dilemma is to go to Dalian or to Qingdao... |

You can fly to Dalian, stay for 3 days (May 2-4) and then take an overnight ferry to Yantai in Shandong province. Upon arrival at Yantai you will take the shuttle to the station and soon connect to the nice bus to Qingdao. Stay in Qingdao 3 days (May 5-7) and then fly back to Beijing on May 8.

I was in Dalien last weekend and the weather was fantastic. not too hot, and the sea is COOOLD! I went paddling but you wouldn't want to swim. You can also get a train from Beijing to Dalien if the plane is too pricey. Dalienis great to walk around as the centre is quite small and it is VERY clean (please check my Dalien page). But you will want to take the bus to the sea - it's very easy to get a bus in Dalien as they mostly follow the major roads heading out from Zhongshan Square. Feel free to contact me for more info Yso
