I have tried to look into booking hotels here just to get a feel for the money needs I would have. No joy! And wouldn't it be just as cheap to go to HK? Trying to find real specific details of the city is a b*tch! Halp!!

Hi. As with everything in life you get what you pay for. If you want Western styleand Western prices stay at the Crown Plaza. If you want a Chinese hotel with Chinese guests, at Chinese prices stay at the Zhong Hao Hotel (see my Zhanjiang tips page). Expect to pay approx £10 a night. Rooms are clean, well kept and does what a room does. As cheap as HK? Depends on what you are going to Zhanjiang for. I go every year to see the wife's family and friends. You won't find much in way of city info anywhere. I intend to develop something but it's taking time. Again, it depends on what you want and why you are going.
