My friend and I will be flying into Frankfurt the end of April. We are wondering the best/easiest way to travel to Baumholder. Is transportation available from the airport to the train station?

Hi, the best and easiest way would be renting a car. There is public transportation to Baumholder, but it's not very comfortable with luggage. The connection between Frankfurt airport and the main train station is very good. Then you'd have to catch train to Idar-Oberstein, either a direct train or change in Mainz, and from there it's a bus. The bus definitely is not very comfortable with luggage. Are you going to see friends? Can they meet you at the train station in Idar-Oberstein?
The area is nice and Idar-Oberstein is well worth visiting. Enjoy your trip. Barbara

Thanks, Barbara. Because you took the time to answer our question, we were able to arrange to be picked up at the Frankfurt airport and driven directly to Baumholder. You saved us a lot of work and we appreciate it!
