I am planning to stay at the Triton Hotel in Ahungalla from 29th June - 7th July and I was wondering whether anyone could give me more info on the hotel, resort, weather and excursions as I have never been to Sri Lanka before and dont quite know what to expect!

Hey there Kate!
Hope I can be of some help. Personally I have never stayed at the Triton Hotel b4, but I can tell you that as a rule Sri Lankan hotels offer a service second to no other, and the Hotels and food more than comfortable. Since you are travelling during a busy time of the year there should be plenty within the hotel in terms of activities and entertainment. And besides, you have the Beach at your doorstep! If you are goin alone it's best to tell you tour rep to hook you up with other singles staying at the Hotel with whom you could share costs with on any excursions into Kandy, Nuwara eliya, and the elephant orphanage. If your feeling adventurous I suggest you visit Yala Safari park and stay a night at the safari lodge situated between the beach and the jungle. The drive to Yala is kewl since you get to see much of the coastline and the gorgeous beaches. Mirissa is an excellent beach for swiming and you can even rent a cabana on the beach for as little as 20 us dollars a night. Well worth the stay there if you get the chance. Unwatuna nearby to Mirissa and is a popular spot for the surfers and for water sports. Arugam bay is situated on the East coast and is a fantastic little spot since it is still quite undeveloped. The weather in Sri Lanka is mostly unpredicatable these days but is generally sunny and Hot. If it does rain it is usually over pretty quick anyways. Tips: Tuk Tuk's (rickshaw) are a far cheaper way of getting around as opposed to a Hotel taxi. And you can bargain your fare down. Make sure to settle on a fare b4 hand. Drinks are a pittance if you buy them outside of the Hotel. Colombo is worth a visit for the nightlfe. Many clubs mostly situated in all the top hotels. You might wanna book a B&B in Colombo if you are goin out on the town. Just ask at your hotel for the local directory. Anyways have a great holiday, if you need any more helo then you can send me a message. Curtis

Thanx 4 that Curtis!
I am going with my boyfriend for 1 week and was wondering how much spending money we would need. We are staying on an all inclusive basis at the hotel so all our food and drinks are covered. All we would need to pay for once we arrived in Sri Lanka is our trips. We would like to visit: +The elephant orphanage in Pinnawala and Buddhas Tooth in a one day trip (our friends done it last year) +The Turtle Hatchery (5minutes from our hotel) +A wildlife park also could you give us a rough price on water sports: +Deep sea diving +Jet skis Thanx for your help Kate

Hi there,
I find whenever I go to Sri Lanka I take minimal cash with me since I can use my cash card at any of the cashpoints. Any atm card with the 'cirrus' logo are accepted. So I don't even need to use my credit card I just withdraw straight out of my account. Take about £200 with you and sees how you go. Prices vary with watersports. Hikkaduwa is one of the most popular spots but also one of the more expensive. I would ask at your hotel. Mirissa is a fantastic spot and less crowded and much cleaner water. Call them from your hotel I can't remember hwo much they charge for watersports. call the hotel PARADISE BEACH CLUB, MIRISSA Curtis

I'm also staying at the Triton but in August, which is where I will be having my wedding. I found out that the hotel is part of the Aitken Spence group, their website is www.aitkenspencehotels.com. I hope this is of some help to you.

Hi Kate
Me and my family stayed at The Triton Hotel in August this year, it is a lovely hotel, the staff are all friendly and lovely, if you have any questions they are happy to help, especially the Guest Relations man his got to be the most smiliest person in the world! The pools and the food was out of this world. There are lots of beach people on the east side of the beach that want you to buy from them, it can be a bit hair raising at first as you go near the sea though we did actually buy things from them and they showed us that at the end of the beach there is a beach / gift shop and jewellers, these guys we met were lovely people so happy though they warned us not to go on the west side of the beach near sunset apparently there are not so very friendly beach guys that way. We didn't go through our tour operator for a tour into Kandy we met a local Charli who took us out for a two day trip. I wouldn't have gone if I was on my own as lone female it was a tour of a lifetime totally amazing and Charli is brilliant he looked after all my family there were ten of us, so probably best to make sure some others are going with you, its a long trip so probably more fun in a group!! I hope you have an amazing time, we did it was brilliant.
