Kailua-Kona Travel Forum

Hello All,

I will be going to the big island in Hawaii (Kona) in about 10 days (3-26 to 4-2). I would really appreciate and advice or tips or nice places to check out for my cisit as well as any nightlife tips. You can reply here or send me email whichever is easier for you thanks Sorry I have been away for so long, for those of you that know me, I have had problems with my computer.

You should make a good guide book your best friend...there are so many wonderful sites on the Big Island, which is my favorite. You definitely want to go to Volcanoes National Park...it will be a long day - leave Kona early and plan to stay in the park all day. If you are into hiking, there are hiking paths that will get you into viewing range of Pu'u O'o vent, which is where the current lava flow is....go to the headquarters office in the park and talk to a USGS staff member about these paths. The Kohala Coast is an awesome journey for sightseeing - if it is not cloudy, you can see Maui, and will be able to view whales from the shoreline if you are patient. Take a tour to the observatory on Mauna Loa....but the best thing you can do on the Big Island is relax....there is as much or little to do as you desire. Kona is probably best location for Nightlife on the BI - so you've chosen wisely on your base location. Enjoy!
