I have never used the company you mention, but wanted to add that you will be surprised at how much you can squeeze into one day in Rome just by using the Metro and public transport.

We were there for 3 Days in January. On the saturday we managed to visit the Coliseum, Visit the Vatican including inside the Basilica and climbing St Peters dome, an then a visit to the Trevi fountain. In between each we walked a lot and stopped for the odd drink, and we certainly were not running around.....it was a relaxing day.

On theSunday we managed the Roman Forums and the Pantheon and several other smaller sites.

So, just a thought for you. Rather than booking a day tour which will restrict you on what you can see and do, it might be worth using public transport and seeing what you want to see.

My travel pages have details of what we managed in 2-3 days and has details on the Metro.

Which ever way you decide.........the main thing is to have a great trip!!

I unfortunately do not know how to get from the docks to the centre of Rome. We flew in from Heathrow.

I do know however that termini train station is the main station in Rome, and from what i have read in other forum threads, and from being there, you can get just about anywhere from here, so you might find that there will be a train from the docs.

From termini there are 2 underground lines which get you to most sites in the centre of Rome, or at least within 10minute walking distance of most sites .

Im sorry i cannot be more helpful in getting you from the docks to Rome, if i can help with anything else, please feel free to ask.

I am scheduled for a cruise on the Grand Princess in September and want to sightsee in Rome prior to the cruise. I am also looking for transportation from a hotel in Rome to the port. Does anyone know the distance between the two points and timeframe to get there? Princess is charging $101 per person for two ports, one in Civitavecchia and the disembarkation in Venice. Too many details, right?
