Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Nazca flight over the Nasca lines and hotels
Posted: Tue March 9, 2004 08:26 PM UTC
We (family of 6) would like to travel by bus from Lima to Nasca, spend the night there, make a flight over the Nasca lines the following morning, visit Chauchillo cemetery, and then take the night bus from Nasca to Arequipa.
Which leaves the following questions:
1) What are the ticket prices from Lima to Nasca
2) Can anyone recommend a not to expensive, clean hotel in Nasca; how to contact/reserve;
3) What are the prices for a flight over the Nasca lines and what's the best option to buy a ticket (how to get to the airfield)
4) How to get to Chauchillo (any entrance fees?);
5) Where/when to buy tickets for the bus to Arequipa/prices;
6) any other advice?
Thanks in advance for your reply!!!

Hi Jan,
in Nasca I went to the Hotel Alegría, not fantastic but not bad. Make sure you go to the hotel and not the Hostal Alegría, which is much less confortable. They also have an agency where you can book your flight over the lines: 40-50 $ depending on the demand. The airfield is very close and you can go in taxi. Last year the entrance fee at Chauchilla was 5 soles (1.5 USD). You can buy a tour from Nasca or just go in taxi (it's about 20 minutes away from Nasca). It's better to buy your bus ticket to Arequipa in Nasca. Sometimes, because of weather conditions, the flights are cancelled and you have to wait the next day, so if you already bought your bus ticket in Lima, you might lose it. There are several day or night buses. I advise you to take a good one as the trip lasts about 10 hours. The Royal Class of Ormeño costs 25 USD and it's very good. In Arequipa, I have a small and very quiet hostel, not expensive at all. If you are interested, you can have a look to the website in my profile or contact me by email.
Cheers.

I really liked the Hotel Don Agucho. We were 2 in a room and it was about $30 but it was pretty and has a super pool.

we paid $35 to fly over teh lines. Go in the morning.
go with a driver to the cemetery 5 soles (cheap) to go in and not too much for the tour (allow 3 - 4 hours)

Ormeno Royal Class goes to Arequipa overnight and is pretty popular.
Good luck
Kally

I just found out that the 28th of July is Independence Day in Peru.
Intending to travel from Nasca to Arequipa with the night bus leaving Nasca on July 28th, gives me two questions:
1) Is there any bus service on July 28th from Nasca to Arequipa;
2) Is it necessary to make reservations (a long time?) in advance (we are a family of six), because maybe more people are travelling in that period
