Hi! I suppose you come from a Malmö visit since you catch the ferry from Oskarshamn rather than just south of Stockholm...
HM...I grew up in Västervik which is the town just north of Oskarshamn and it is wonderful with its archipelago and ABBA heritage. I don't suppose you will have time to see it though as public transport between the two isn't great. Equally, Kalmar to the south is a nice city with one of our most impressive medieval castles... HM...Oskarshamn has one of Sweden's nuclear power stations to visit if you're into that sort of thing :-))) There was also a famous Swedish wood sculpturer from here nicknamed Döderhultaren whose creations (mainy wooden carvings of people and things in the province at the time) can be seen in a museum in the Cultural House in the city centre. The museum is next to the Maritime Museum. I'll think of more...the surrounding countryside is nice with sleepy farms and an archipelago :-)
