| Ariał | Anyone visited the Ariau Towers? Posted: Sat March 6, 2004 01:28 AM UTC
Thinking of taking our family (two teenage girls and my wife) to the Amazon, and staying in the Ariau Towers. Anyone been there, done that?

daytrips by sailboat (felukka) can be made easily on the spot in aswan.
it's a very interesting way to explore the nile and also a very cheap way.

Yes, I have stayed at Ariau, through a package 3 day deal. See my Ariau page for a lot more info, it has its pluses and minuses, depends on what your looking for. If you are limitted in time, don't want to really explore deep into the Amazon and just want a proto-Amazon experience Ariau is ok, a bit cheesy though really touristy, as is just about every place outside ou manaus. However, their package deals will put you with some expert guides and give you a real taste of the Amazon, some of the villages, wildlife, etc... It is also the hotel that hosted the USA Survivor tv show: Amazon.

Not really, its all the same deal. The good thing about the Rio Negro (by Ariau) is that there are few mosquitos, and the water is really nice. You can actually go swimming on several of the beaches there. Ariau does a good job with families, and their hotel is cool in the sense that there are tons to paths above the forrest and you can go wandering, go find dome monkeys, birds, etc... However, you really cannot stay more than 3-4 days, or all the trips repeat themselves... Piranha Fishing, Village Visit, Jungle hike, animal lookout, cayman catching, etc... So go to RIO DE JANEIRO after that, highly recommended!
However, I have a friend that did it in Ecuador, and loved what they had there, but I don't hanv any info on that.
