I met a girl online while chatting with a friend. She seems sweet and sincere enough, but I don't know what to think. I have read several things about girls from Russia and the Ukraine pretending to be interested only as a con. And also I know that people in the U.S. do the same thing all of the time. I heard there were websites that list names and photos of known con artists and of girls who have had their identies stolen for use in cons. Does anyone know of a site to check out a girl from Romania? I think that she is sincere, but I would feel more comfortable to know for sure. She also says that she is trying to get her papers to visit me in the U.S. and says that this takes a couple of weeks. I would assume that this sounds correct, but I am not certain. She has not asked me for anything and seems sincere, but how can you know for sure?

Every few weeks, this topic comes up for discussion. It's a good sign that she hasn't asked for anything, and hopefully you will be a good judge of character. The only way to really know about someone is to meet them in person and then spend lots of time together. It's difficult having a long distance relationship - many problems but of course it can work.
