| Oia | Getting to Santorini Posted: Sat February 21, 2004 07:48 PM UTC
I got invited to a wedding in June and I would have to pay for 5 plane tickets. Flights from the US to Santorini seem outrageous, and very expensive to Athens as well. I know easyjet from London is cheap, then again that will be 2 planes for me and a long cruise.
Does anyone else know of affordable options thanks |

I've been looking for a cheap flight from Oregon to Santorini for the same time frame, and I haven't found anything affordable either. So far the best price I can find is through Orbitz at about $1250. Flying from Philadelphia you at least have the advantage of not having to pay for flying across the US.
I've looked into flying into London as well, and picking up one of those cheap charters to Santorini, but so far they've proved to be at least as expensive in the long run when added to the overseas flight from the US, or the dates are all messed up and would require stopovers, airport transfers and hotel expenses in London coming and going. I keep hoping that eventually I'll come across a promotional fare that will fit my needs and budget. And just so you know, with some of the budget UK airlines like EasyJet (can't remember which ones) it is required that the ticket be sent to an address in the UK, so check before you make a purchase. If you haven't already tried, Air France flies out of Philadelphia with a connection in Paris to Athens. Olympic Airways Athens-Santorini (ATH-JTR) is an additional $216 round trip. The problem with Olympic is making the right connection without another layover, and because of the limited flights sometimes they're booked up well in advance. Agean Air also flies to Santorini. British Airways also offers flights to Athens from Philadelphia, stopping in London. Good luck, we need it!!

Consider this, it might work. I'm not sure about the price (but I figured it might be cheaper). Fly to Istanbul, drive to Kusadasi & then take a ferry from there to Santorini.

Sounds interesting of course, not sure how hard or easy or far, but I will check it out.

Keep in mind that US citizens pay a $100 visa fee upon entering Turkey. Travelling from Kusadasi to Santorini will also be time-consuming, probably 2 days because of the stopover on Naxos to make the right connection to Santorini.

See if flights to Rhodes or Crete are any cheaper. There are a lot of direct flights to Rhodes.

There should be a lot of charter flights to Santorini from the UK, Germany, Austria or the Scandinavian countries (but avoid Norway, it's very expensive).
I just had a quick look and a direct return flight from Stockholm to Santorini in June is about $270. However, if you haven't booked accommodation yet, you could find a better deal by booking a package holiday. E.g. flights + hotel room for one week will be something like $450. From Austria you can fly directly to Santorini by Air Berlin (www.airberlin.com). From the UK try www.cheapflights.co.uk, there are many direct flights.

Hi ka5637,
My fiance and I are planning to go to Santorini from Stockholm. I would like to know which site you found the ticket from Stockholm to Santorini.
