Hrodna Transit Visas
Posted: Sat February 21, 2004 02:26 PM UTC
We are trying to go from Vilnius to Gdansk and we are trying not to do the overnight buses. I have read that you can get a transit visa through Belarus on that train for only like $30, but when I called the embassy in the US they said the books were wrong and that we had to go through the full blown visa process from the United States (which is both difficult and costly).

Can ayone help me?

thanks

The easy way to go directly by bus from Vilniu to Gdansk, the trip lasts 11 and half houts. But if you want to visit Bielorusia, you must get visas for this country.

thanks - do you have any idea of when these buses run? We are not looking to spend any time in Belarus, and prefer to take a bus that is not an overnight one

thanks

Ah, here's your other question :)
You can also try Ecolines or Eurolines, as far as I know both go to Gdansk from Latvia and Lithuania:
www.ecolines.lt (or .lv)
www.eurolines.lt (or .lv)

Good luck,
P.

You definitely need a visa for Belarus even if just for transit. They are not easy - but you can get them.
