Kansas City 2 nights in KC
Posted: Thu February 19, 2004 04:59 PM UTC
Hello,
I have business next week in KC and will probably use Hotwire for a hotel. Can anyone recommend a good area to stay and eat? Is downtown the place to be for steaks and drinks? Money is not an issue so a good chophouse with bars around it is key.

I don’t need to be near the convention center or need any daytime activities. Just a good restaurant and a place for a few drinks-pubs and bars not dance places.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

Arthur Bryant's is a cool barbecue place - good food. I went to one that is downtown near the Jazz Musuem. There are other barbecue places - KC is known for this.

There are some bars near River/City Market. I went to one that was more of a sports bar, though, so not sure if this what you are looking for. It did seem like an area with more than just that.

I stopped by the Grand Emporium and Empire Room though it was not on a happening night. These were in guide books. The latter seemed to have a young person's vibe.

Country Club plaza was interesting - Spanish architecture shopping area.

Hope this helps,
John
