First of all, congrats! Glad to see you reconsidered your decision of staying near the ground and decided to visit Machu Picchu. You are not going to regret it :) In April Cusco is not cold during the day but at night, so a good jacket, hat or gloves are mandatory (depending on the person). However, if you go to the streets you will notice that several Europeans, Americans and Canadians wear almost no gear or go just in T shirts and shorts, because they say that it is by far much colder in their countries! By the way, if you don't want to carry from your country much clothing, you can find warm jackets, sweaters, gloves and hats in the very Cusco, at cheap prices, in downtown and around, or in Pisac market on weekends. Enjoy your visit! Flor de Maria
