Hello, I'm planing to visit Sachsen this summer. I have a digital camera and I wonder is there such kind of service (on photo shops for example) where I could copy my pictures form memory card (CompactFlash) to CD? Thanks
Sorry but this may not be related. But I have so far burn the images from memory card (CF) to CD twice during my travel, once was in Auckland and another was in Kunming.
Make sure you take the CD to another pc to double confirm the pics are in the CD, before you reformat the CF card. I did not have problem with the CDs I took back from Auckland trip but boy - was I fuming mad with the CD I took back from Kunming. It was totally empty. Fortunately, I went to my regular Kodak shop, and they could paritally recover some pictures despite having re-formatted the CF card.
There is a gadget in the market which you could consider (if you are a busy traveller and love taking lots of pictures). I saw it in Manila, one VTer there has this gadget so called as Image Tank, and it actually allows you to burn pics into the Image Tank (the size of a small walkman) and it could store up to 40 GB!!! that is helluva pictures. I saw the similar gadget at Changi Airport...it was going around USD300.
Yes, it's possible in some drug stores and media stores. Usually it takes a few days before you get the CD. Maybe photo shops are faster but I do not know.
Since you will be in or near Dresden I give you a recommendation for this city:
"Saturn" in the city centre (Altmarkt Galerie shopping mall next to the Altmarkt square) offers the service to upload your digital pics to the internet or burn a CD-ROM.
Personally I use to go to a private photo shop (Foto Wolf) which is located in a residential area in Dresden's northeast (Weisser Hirsch), Bautzner Landstrasse, right between Parkhotel and Commerzbank office. Very good service, I bet they do it in a minute for you.
