| Sosúa | Sosua By The Sea? Posted: Mon February 16, 2004 03:48 PM UTC
We're off to Sosua (Staying at Sosua By The Sea). I've been to Puerto Plata and while there we visited Sosua for the day and it looked lovely. Just wondering if anyone has any "great spots" that we don't want to miss or any reviews about this particular resort?
Mostly trying to determine how is the food and how do you get to the beach (are there stairs down the cliff or do you have to go by taxi, etc?) Any information would be welcomed! |

I was at this exact hotel about 10 years ago. It is on the beach but if you go to the public beach about 10 minutes away it is terrific. The water is calm and beautiful and there's lots of vendors and little bars.

Your pick has its own beach...and most folks like istaying there...and, as you are in town, do not get the all inclusive for your meals...for there are several good places to eat nearby for variety to mix it up a bit.
The Waterfront Hotel also has a good restaurant, and there are many expats who will be glad to share their tips at: www.rockysbar.com

Do NOT MISS going to Natura Cabanas between Sousua and Cabarete for dinner at the restaurant there. It's run by Titi, a Chilean chef who is a superb chef and great host, very casual with fantastic food. Say hi. Full dinner is about $25 - $30 pp so it's a special treat. An off the track authentic dominican restaurant in Cabarete is Mercedes. Much cheaper - $10 - $15 pp for anything on the menu - including lobster.
