Hi there... yes... not very original.. but since there are over 3350 restaurants on Tripadvisor only... Who can recommend some good restaurants in the center, not too expensive, not too cheap. Thanks !!

Hi Time, food is never boring... our family favorite is The Bear, just a few short blocks of Piazza Navona. (See my Rome page under restos) I have a few others listed that also are good. Karl

Show me a bad Italian restaurant in Roma and it must have just opened because it would close very quickly without being molto bene. I have a few on my VT Roma pages that might be of interest. See: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/736c8/23513/2/

You can get most of the VT members restaurant tips at the VT Rome Travel Guide: http://www.virtualtourist.com/travel/Europe/Italy/Lazio/Rome-144659/Restaurants-Rome-TG-C-1.html

Well said Larry, although there are some places that I would never go to that somehow stay in business, probably because of tourists like certain members of my family who will sometime just pick a place. The food turned out to be awful (surprise) and I couldn't even say "I told you so." ;-) Karl

Take a look inside. If the restaurant is full of tourists, it MAY be good. If it is full of locals, it probably IS good.

Interesting to read the comments...
Mine begins with the question to you.... Where is the center of Rome?
You are going to get lots of answers.
Mine is not exactly your best answer, but only some thoughts. One of the fun things to do in Rome is finding a good small restaurant that is not a place for tourists or a fast food joint. I am an American who lives in Italy and now I can spot these places... an Italian "McDonalds" that serves pasts or pizza, mostly not good pizza.
So, walk around while you are being a tourist and note a place that looks good. You will see the menu outside, and a list of specials. Don't go in one that does not have a menu to read and so you know how much things will cost.
This will be fun, you will find your own treasures to remember.
Are you going to Venice? I can help you more... on this one, write me.
Dave

My favourite restaurant in Rome is ristorante-pizzeria Tosca. It isn't far from piazza Navona. Try to google a bit or have a look at my Rome page for some info about this restaurant.
