I searched through the forum looking for information on the Uvac River (the famous meandering formation). I'm planning on visiting Serbia in May this year and would like to see this. How would I get there? Is there a specific entry point? Can I visit from Belgrade or Nis? I don't have much time in the country unfortunately. I thought about driving myself but I'm unfamiliar with the area (and I'm horrible with directions). Any information would be helpful. Thank you!
im from serbia originally and unfortunately without a car you wont get to see anything.
these are sort of hidden places/gems if you like, and the tourist infrastructure hasnt expanded there yet. serbia has mainly invested into cities like novi sad, belgrade, etc, not much into transportation to more off the beaten track destinations. and unfortunately the roads to these places are also quite bad.
i found this for you:

depending when in may youre coming, maybe just maybe i could ask my brother to go with you there by car, its around 250 or so km from belgrade. so there would only be gas money involved. (my brother will be 31 in may, so old enough to drive :=). but i cant promise anything.
THANK YOU!!! Very informative. I was leaning towards having to hire a car for the day. I'm still in the planning phase of my trip. This was supposed to happen a year ago but I was impacted by the Sendai tsunami from Japan. Had to postpone my Balkan journey unfortunately. I've gotten my Croatia, Slovenia portion wrapped up but the more I read about Serbia the more I want to see lol. I had originally stuck to Belgrade & Novi Sad.
WOW thanks for the offer! Don't need to go out of your way for me but thank you I will keep that in mind :) :) :). I turn 28 in March so we're only a few years apart.
Starbucks... ahhh that's more like a joke I tell people haha!! We have some pretty backwood places here and I jokingly tell people NEVER to ask for a Starbucks or risk getting beaten by the locals lol. I live in Hawaii and much as we promote tourism as our #1 source of industry, we still suck at public transit. Everything here requires hiring/renting a car and trails are horribly marked. Most tourists stick to the beaches and farmers markets. Anything requiring a little thinking means taking an expensive tour through an outfitter or driving yourself.
Seriously though... No Starbucks in Serbia??? (lol) In this small town I live in there are probably 3 within reach of me that I can think of. Can't remember the last time I stopped by one which reminds me, I have a gift certificate to use...
