Traveling to Switzerland!
Posted: Tue February 14, 2012 12:46 PM UTC
Hi everyone!

My mate and I are flying into Zurich on the 6 of March. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some things to do in Zurich and around Switzerland and perhaps even some cheap accommodation?

We're into adventure sports (such as bungee jumping, snow boarding etc), sight seeing, we're also keen to see the alps but have no idea on where to start with that, so any advice about that would be much appreciated.

We were thinking we would take the train to Interlaken at some point as it seems cheaper to stay there, then do adventure things like canyoning and bungee jumping etc.

Thank you for taking the time to read my msg!

You might look first at the VT Travel guides which will give you information from past visitors.

My wife and I spent 3 days around Interlaken in a town called Lauterbrunnen. There were plenty of adventure trips listed.

We did one - paragliding.

Here is the YouTube video I did while paragliding.

The latest hostel in Zurich run by a former backpacker is:
http://www.langstars.ch

Since Switzerland is not very big you may even go snow boarding as a day trip from Zurich to places like Klosters Madrisa or Flumserberg. A good place to stay would also be Grindelwald (2 hostels) or as mentioned before Lauterbrunnen. Lots of backpackers that like action tend to stay in Interlaken in the hostels there. From there you can go snow boarding and Interlaken is the starting point to various adventure sports.

Also check the official Swiss tourist office website for activities:

Happy planning and greetings from Zurich!

Thank you very much for your reply, much appreciated! I hate to be a pain but as I'm new to this site I'm not sure how to go about doing that. Do you think you could point me in the right direction with how to go about doing that please?
Cheers!
