Question Posted By: Replies:
Times (as in activity times) are messy (our time versus headquarter time)
Posted: Tue February 14, 2012 10:02 AM UTC
Anyone noticed this too? The times given for our activities (comments, forum posts etc) is differing from the ones in our activity tab.
It seems that the times on the activity sheet are given in PST while the ones on pages and in forums are shown as the time in our time zone. (Mine always have 9 ours difference, I live in CET)

Is that on purpose? It might lead to a misassumptions.

thanks
Ingrid

If you were desperate, you could use it to your advantage to make birthdays and Christmas last longer ... ;)

Most likely due to how times are being kept on the databases. "Activities" being kept on servers/database and times are PST, while others are on different servers/database and time being kept on GMT which then can be personalized to each account due to their time zone preferences.

I've seen this lots of times doing reports for internet based billing companies and people coming to me saying the data seems incorrect for daily totals for example. I also anticipated people lining up during daylight savings time...

Thanks Patrick :-) I (emphasis on I) don't mind, as long as I know how the times are being displayed.
I would find it annoying though if someone from company thinks to be entitled to do some snooping (although illegal) and ... misinterpret things. Working partially from home but I am very much meticulous when it comes to time I work and time I don't work but look into VT. I know that but snoopers ... the term implies that they don't :-)
