Susannejord, Kvaloyvag, Bellvik, or Grunnfjordbotn?
Posted: Tue February 14, 2012 07:21 AM UTC
Hi,

I'll have several days in Tromso and one of the things I love to do is just take local buses to nearby villages to explore sights off the usual tourist trail.

I've found four routes and may only be able to do two of them. Which two might be more scenic? Susannejord, Kvaloyvag, Bellvik, or Grunnfjordbotn?

Thanks very much.

Never been to any of them, but Susannefjord looks like just a few houses on a road between the fjord and the mountains.
This web site I fpound about Kvaløyvåg: http://www.trondjord.com/bygda.php
Bellvik: http://turliv.no/bellvika.html
and Grunnfjordbotn (seems to be the last settlement to be established in the area, just a lonely "farm" far away): https://www.tysfjord.kommune.no/getfile.php/1430317.1172.ttxbbyrdwf/44.+GRUNNFJORDBOTN.pdf

So my guss would be that Kvaløyvåg and Bellvik are the two most interesting of the four.

Thanks very much. I'm not necessarily looking for "interesting" places, an d it doesn't matter if it's just a few houses or farms. What I;m looking for is beautiful mountain and fjord scenery.

Will look at the websites. Thanks again.

Well, then three of them probably will do, but Susannefjord doesn't even have a web site, but of course, you will see the fjord and the mountains on the other side of it from there too.

why dont you go over to kilpisjärvi village in finland? theres a bus there and you can see the lake + highest mountain in finland. the scenery is beautiful in between the two and its very close to tromsoe.

Yes, but Kilpisjärvi is not down at the fjords. No, stick to Kvaløyvåg, Bellvik or Grunnfjordbotn.

Thank you, that does sound interesting. I suspect it's too far for my purposes, though. I need places to which I can go and come back in one day because I have very inexpensive lodging in Tromso and am trying to save as much as possible by using local buses, etc.

So far I haven't found the bus to Kilpisjarvi among the routes I've found. Do you know the link?

Thank you very much.
