Pudong airport vs. Hongqiao airport

I'm going to be flying from Beijing to Shanghai. On my intended date of travel, there are four flights going to Pudong airport, and about 10-12 going to Hongqiao.

The price for the flights are the same.

We're staying in the French Concession.

Which airport would be better for us to fly into?

Right now I'm leaning towards Hongqiao just because there are more flights available.

Pros/cons?

I've never used Hongqiao, so can't compare as such, but Pudong is still reasonably convenient given the speed of the maglev from there into town.

We stayed in the general area you will be staying in.

I've used both airports, not much difference really. Pudong is a little farther out and unless you wish to try out their Maglev train, either airport is OK.

I think both airports are just fine. Keep in mind, you can take the metro trains from Hongqiao Airport to downtown.

I would think Hongqiao would be better. It is the domestic airport and is closer to where you want to end up.

i'd say hongqiao would be closer and cheaper by taxi....but from pudong you can catch a bus for approx 20yuan

Yes Hongqiao is the domestic airport and Pudong is the international but they do cater both.
