Visiting China's "ghost cities" with/without guide?
Posted: Mon February 6, 2012 01:49 PM UTC
I am looking to visit a couple of China's ghost cities - a pictures of the supposed housing bubble. By this I mean newly constructed cities, that have yet to attract any residents - cities that are more or less empty. The most famous of which is the new district in Ordos.

To get an idea, look here:

Now, my questions are:

1. Which cities/districts should I visit?
2. Where can I get a competent private guide to accompany me at these places?

Guide: I found several great guides using www.zicasso.com when we went to China and wanted guides in various locations. With Zicasso, you enter the details of your trip and qualified (& legit) companies bid on what you ask for. Prices were very good and we were quite happy with the services.
