Advice for central hostel /sightseeing and for shopping

Hi,
I need advice for a budget hotel/ youthhostel with flair in Guangzhou.
This is my last station in china, after Guangzhou I will stay 3 days in Hongkong and go back to europa.
It's inexpensive for shopping in Guangzhou ore Hongkong?
6 years ago I was in Guangzhou and I go together with the tourist-group in the evening to a big market, with a big selection of different clothes .Is this market active and if yes I need the adress or other advice for shopping.
I have 2 days in Guangzhou, what I must see in Guangzhou?

Hey,robg22.Let me answer your questions.
1.There is one Youth hostel in Guangzhou located in riverside of Pearl River.
2.Whether inexpensive for Shopping in Guangzhou denpends on what you want to buy,famous brand goods are much cheaper in HongKong.
3.There are many big closes markets near the Guangzhou Railway Station,I'm not sure which one you had visit.If you want a good shopping environment I advice you to visit Grandview Mall.
4.I don't know what's kind of sight spots you are insterested in. Historical and cultural or modern spots?

My special interest is the history of China. Also I am looking for a market / pharmacy with Chinese medicinal herbs. The ancestral home of the Chen family I've known.

As you said,Ancestral Temple of the Chen Family is good choice for history,
also,I recommend you a Museum:Western Han Nanyue King's Tomb Museum

There is one big medicine market named Qingping medicine wholesale market.
