I need to put either "World" or "Atlantic", "Pacific", "Indian Ocean" as locations. Wherelse could I otherwise put a travelogue on freighter travelling?

Write to staff and ask for the locations to be added. That's how you get locations added to the database, if staff consider them worthwhile.

I'm not sure how much call there is for oceans to be added as pages in the database.

Personally, I would write about sea voyage on the page of its port of departure as a 'things to do' tip or port of arrival as a 'travelling to' tip.

As to your other question, perhaps no member had an answer? In which case, why not write directly to staff and ask them?

This is just like train journeys, cruises etc. I believe we will eventually get a feature where we can plot a journey, which may help you.
Otherwise it's best to chose the startpoint to write your stuff.

There's no real good way to write about a cruise on VT. I started out on VT, I was writing emails for my mother about our travels on our own boat and wanted a way to add photos for her because she did not 'do' attachments. I took the original emails and made travelogues out of them. That's still the way I do it, except my mom died at almost 97 in 2006, so I write a detailed email every day about what we are doing and send it to my children.

To write it up on VT, I start with the emails and copy past into a travelogue starting with the embarkation port. Then I write about the first port. I take the first port URL and put a link from it into the embarkation port. I continue in this way until I get to the end of the cruise. I don't try to write about the ocean and I don't do that much on the ship itself except in the process of doing the travelogue. I take pieces from the travelogue and make tips too. If you look at my home page, you can see how I've done this as I have done it a LOT.

Well, the travelogue was ment to be a summary of all my ten freighter journeys - then there is not one but ten starting points. Long train journeys is easier, you can always write a travelogue under the continent; "North America", "Asia" etc.

Oh, I just give up creating travelogues - 8 times 4096 caracters is ridicolously little for a travelogue!

That's why I do one for each trip. I could not combine 10 into one. You can have more travelogues per location now which does make it easier.

Which is why VT is building a way for us to plot a journey.

"That's why I do one for each trip. I could not combine 10 into one." I understand that comment from what I have written so far, but the case is, I hadn't even come to my freighter travelogue - it was already my 1996-97 Oslo to Singapore by train (except through Laos) and back by freighter journey that was more than 8 times 4096 caracters.

Since the number of travelogues per location has been increased, if I get too many characters, I either
a) edit my narrative including making tips out of some of it
b) start another travelogue

What I do depends to a certain extent on the number of photos I have.
