KL Hop On Hop Off vs Taxi (Which is cheaper)
Posted: Wed January 25, 2012 02:54 AM UTC
Hello VTers!!

So if I were going solo or with a buddy I know that Hoponhopoff is cheaper than taxi.

But as we are a group of 7, @ 38RMx5 (adult) and 17RMx2 (child, that would mean RM224 total.

I looked at the map: http://www.myhoponhopoff.com/images/mapbig.png and I found out that the places of our interests is grouped into two sections mostly, stops 12 to 16 and stops 20 to 22.

Now I am not sure but, I think stops 12 (National Museum) to 16 (Dataran Merdaka) are actually near each other and can take by walking.

And then we can ride train from Masjid Jamek LRT station to Titiwangsa Station to go to Stop 20 (Palace of culture and walk through Titiwangsa Lake and National Art Gallery, and further on to Kampung Baru.

Then take taxi to go to Petronas Tower as our last stop.

Is this doable?? We actually have two days so we can split the tour to have more time and make it more relaxing.

What do you think guys?

Hi..

Yes, you may walk from National Museum to Dataran, bring umbrella.

For Titiwangsa Station - yes, it can be done for me it is a bit far but if time and pysically allowed you may take a walk (Palace of Culture is just next to National Art Gallery, either you walk around Titiwangsa Lake first then go to that two places which have aircond inside for cooling). Titiwangsa Lake is a small lake where local people exercising mostly during evening time.

What do you wish to see in Kampung Baru? you might need to take taxi from National Art Gallery to Kampung Baru, very far by walking, very near by car.

From Kampung Baru, depends on which area you walk from, in fact you can have slow walk to reach KLCC because you will passby Malaysia Tourism Centre, Renaissance Hotel etc and you can take picture of KLCC (goodview) at the traffice light right before KLCC...

Thank you Teresa. :)

We might take taxi from Dataran to Titiwangsa if its a bit far.
So you agree with me that it will be cheaper, and just as convenient to take taxi than to go for the Hop On Hop OFf?

Kampung Baru i heard has the authentic Malay foods.. If we have the extra time, we might drop bby for tasting. But if not then we head directly to KLCC for the famous portrait at the Petronas tower. It seems you were never in KL if you dont have picture in front of that tower yah?? haha.

Is still worth the trip to Bukit Bintang? Im thinking of having dinner there, if its worth another taxi ride. I actually want my family to have dinner at hawkers (like in Taman Mega) so do you know one near KLCC??

Hi..

By taxi will be more convenient but if possible take the taxi that have the receipt or charging follow meter. There are lots of un-ethical taxi driver in town especially Bukit Bintang area which simply charge without following the meter [RM10 for short distance is very expensive](i hate it very much).

By LRT, just you need to take some walk. If physically fit, can do so.

Not necessary go to Kampung Baru for Malay food. It is all over K.L. almost the same taste. You can actually try it inside KLCC foodcourt/Centre Market Foodcourt. I saw one roadside stall selling Malay food right after Istana Budaya towards Titiwangsa Lake, this stall a lot of Malay local eating. Not sure whether you have any specific Malay food to try if not can eat the mix rice (white rice + you can choose vege/meat display on the table) This is the everyday food they eat. Any other food in your mind? i try my best to recommend to you.

In Bukit Bintang, you can go to Jalan Alor (there is a KFC next to it, if i am not mistaken). Lots of tourist will eat at Jalan Alor (majority Chinese Food).
