| Saint Anthony | St. Anthony Newfoundland Travel Posted: Tue February 10, 2004 05:11 PM UTC
I'm trying to plan a honeymoon for the L'Anse aux Meadows area near St. Anthony, NF. I would be traveling from Buffalo, NY. I haven't been able to figure out what airports to fly into or out of that would maximize our travel time and still be affordable. Does anyone have any tips for us? I also haven't found any travel agents in St. Anthony to help me plan this yet.
Thanks in advance! Victorria |

Hi my name is Ed:
My wife and I came back from Newfoundland last summer. We drove from Toronto Ontario and took the Ferry over and drove up the coast. A very long drive. We didn't mind as we had 4 weeks and drove over to St. John's and back to Ontario. We met up with smart people who took a flight into Deer Lake Newfoundland, from Halifax and rented a car. It was about a 6 hour drive up to L'Anse aux Meadows. You have to stop a day in Grose Morne Park though and take in a show and dinner at Cow Head. The Bed & Breakfast are great. We went up in June and Stayed at a light house keepers home on an Island in St. Anthony's. We spent 2 nights and watched Ice burgs float by for 3 days. Some the size of cruise ships and others floating 20 feet in front of you off shore. Watched whales float by. Been to Alaska and all over the world. That was the BEST. We are going back as the 1 of the 2 ladies running the place think they are related to me. The Meadows are a hole day of activity if you want to learn about the Vikings. They have 2 places one is a National Park and the other is run by the locals. That was done in character and I was able to trade the wife for a sword and helmet to a Viking. i was born and raised in st. anthony ;now living in toronto.I suggest that you travel to St. John's ;then get Labrador Airways to St. anthony. You should be able to book everything through St. John's travel agency.I'm impressed that you would go to Lanse-Aux-Meadows for your honeymoon. You'll love it;make sure you get screeched in as a newfoundlander.HAPPY TRAVELS!!!

Hi rosemary. Loved St. Anthony's.....The light house was neat to stay in...lot's of snow during the winter months. I'll stay in Ontario for that. Had an invite from Hubert & Dorothy who run the light house to come up during the winter and stay with them for a week and go snow mobiling. Thought they where kidding until the wrote again asking for us to return.
