Re: Any place to leave luggages at Bled train or bus station Posted: Wed November 23, 2011 07:04 PM UTC
I have actualy called the railway station yesterday and the guy said no problem with the luggage. I did ask about one piece though so I can't guarantee you'll be fine with a big load. Tell me estimates of times and luggage (on VTmail if you prefer privacy) and I can give them another call.
You see, I don't remember any storage room at the station and I'd say officials would store it in their office. Slovenian trains are rarely crowded (apart from school kids at certain hours) and officials tend to be rather helpful, but they don't enjoy being taken advantage of.
That path around the lake is IMO the best thing to do in Bled, especially if weather is nice. It's some 7km long and it takes around one hour and a half to finish it - add some more time if you've got kids or elders with you or if you plan to stop for some rest, photos, drinks etc. It's flat and it doesn't require lots of stamina. It passes just below the railway station (so there's no need for any bus or shuttle which I'm afraid aren't there anyway), by the town's touristic center (with most of hotels and restaurants) and you get to see all the sights of the castle, island and everything else.
The town itself is rather small and there isn't a lot to see that isn't by the walking path already. Well, there's castle and church on the island and I heard they're nicely restored, but I never bothered to visit them; guess I've seen enough churches and castles in the past :)
