Transport from YVR to Fairmont Pacific Rim
Posted: Mon October 31, 2011 12:00 AM UTC
Hi there, I'll be arriving at the international airport early on a Wednesday morning approx 6am and need to get to the Fairmont Pacific Rim, 1038 Canada Place.
What would be the easiest/cheapest way to get here? It will just be me traveling solo, so the skytrain looks good but I'm not sure how that works - as in what stop I should get off and then how far is it to get to the actual hotel from there?
Any info would be greatly apprecaited, thanks!

I used to live in Vancouver 10 years ago and visit almost every year. I don't drive, so public transit is it for me. If I recall correctly, you do take the Skytrain from the airport directly downtown to the last stop, at the waterfront (direction: northbound). When you get above-ground (follow the signs), you can get directions to Canada Place from the info centre (or even a passerby). That hotel is located west of Waterfront Station, about a 5min walk (or faster, depending on if you ogle the sights as you walk). But, it's been a while since I've been there, so another poster may correct me. You also get directions online by going to www.translink.ca (BC's public transportation site. It'll give you step by step directions to get there by public transit/walking).

What is posted above is correct. Catch skytrain at the airport and get off at the end of the line at Waterfront station. It will probably be about a 5 min walk to the hotel.

There are two exits from the Canada line at Waterfront Terminus. Both are nice 4 block walks.
I am not sure of the start times for the train. It will be $7.50 and can be bought with cash, Credit Card(not Discover) or bank (ATM) card

In the interest of clarity, there is NO SKYTRAIN to YVR. It's called the Canada Line. While the same technology, it has a different name for a reason.

Take the Canada Line from YVR all the way down to the Waterfront Station. When you get out of the train, keep walking towards the front of the train. Follow everyone else through the tunnel and up the escalator. Exit out the door ahead and to your right. Turn right when outside and walk about 3 blocks tot he Fairmont Pacific Rim.

More clarity, Skytrain is the system (like Underground, Metro, Bus), there are 3 routes: Canada Line, Expo Line and Millenium Line.

Dave, I never thought of it like that before, much because the Expo Line and Millenium line are directly connected in New West.

But I think you're right: http://www.translink.ca/en/Schedules-and-Maps/Transit-Maps/SkyTrain-Station-Maps.aspx
